Website Re-do!

Hey all!  I just spent the last few days re-designing my online store, and I  wanted to let you all know about the blood, sweat and tears that goes into such a project.  It was time consuming and made my eyeballs hurt.  I want to share this with you good people so that you will feel sympathy, and think to yourself  ‘what a sacrifice she has made in the name of entrepreneurship’ and know how dedicated to my projects I can be!

Okay,  really I just want you all to hop over and take a look so that I won’t feel that I did all that work for nothing!  If you  like it let me know!  If you don’t like it, I don’t really want to know, but you can tell me anyway!  Sooo, head on over to the Candeystore and while you’re at it, if you haven’t signed up for my newsletter, you might as well do that too and stay in the loop!  Talk to ya soon!

About the Author – My Name is Joy and I love ‘Urban Cowboy’

In fact, it’s one of my Top 5 movies of all time.  C’mon, you know you love it too!  Don’t try to act like you don’t know what movie I’m talking about – John Travolta and Debra Winger hanging out at the local honky tonk, riding mechanical bulls.  A quick marriage, and a quick separation.  Hooking up with ex-cons in the trailer behind the bar.  Winning a bull riding competition and the inevitable fight for the girl at the end.  You’ve gotta love it in all it’s sappy country corniness, you’ve just got to.  (And you even get to see the handsome John T. get his butt kicked in a fight early on in the proceedings too!)  I think I’ll trot this one out just in time for Valentines day.  Everyone get your guy (or gal) and treat yourself to an old fashioned romance this year!

Now That’s Funny

Hey all, just wanted to share a little something funny that I read recently.  According to the source this is an actual ad that was posted to Craigslist, however, I will leave it up to you whether or not you think that’s true.  Anyway, hope it brings a smile to your face as it did to mine!

AN ACTUAL CRAIG’S LIST AD
AN ACTUAL CRAIG’S LIST PERSONALS AD
To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown  Savannah  night before last.
Date: 2009-05-27, 1 :43 a.m.  E.S.T.
I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded that I hand over, shortly after you pulled the knife on me and my girlfriend, threatening our lives. You also asked for my girlfriend’s purse and earrings. I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message.
First, I’d like to apologize for your embarrassment; I didn’t expect you to actually crap in your pants when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket.. The even ing was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason.. My girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 .45 ACP pistol for my birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening. Obviously you agree that it is a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head … isn’t it?!
I know it probably wasn’t fun walking back to wherever you’d come from with that brown sludge in your pants. I’m sure it was even worse walking bare-footed since I made you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. [That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again].
After I called your mother or “Momma” as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you’d done. Then I went and filled up my gas tank as well as those of four other people in the gas station, — on your credit card.. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful!
I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Go’s, along with all the cash in your wallet. [That made his day!]
I then threw your wallet into the big pink “pimp mobile” that was parked at the curb … after I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver’s side of the car.
Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what ’s going on with that? Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the DA’s office and one to the FBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possible target..
The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat (I guess while he traced your number etc.).
;In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you .. but I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider, the career path you’ve chosen to pursue in life. Remember, next time you might not be so lucky.Have a good day!
Thoughtfully yours,
Alex

About the Author – My Name is Joy and I watch ‘Idol’

Yes my faithful friends, it is true.  I’m letting the cat out of the bag – I am an avid follower of ‘American Idol’.  Now, in my defense let me just say that I have tried to kick this habit.  I’ve watched Idol since it’s second season and I swear, for the past 3 seasons or so I’ve said I wasn’t gonna do this again next year.  And when I said it, I meant it.  But then, every January they start playing those oh so inspirational commercials where everyone from farmhands to fashion models get a chance to realize their lifelong dream – with the old familiar music, and I feel like ‘How can I be out of the loop?’  and I end up watching again.  Last year I said, well now that Paula’s not coming back this is really it, I’m going to leave show to the hardcore fans and move on to freedom on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, until I realized – I’m one of those hardcore fans too!  Geez, what’s a gal to do?  Sooo, I’m following along this year once again.  But I tell ya what, this is my last year watching American Idol.  It really is.  I promise.  I think.  I hope so.  Well, we’ll just have to see!

Vegetable Noodle Soup

Mmmm, with this cold snap we’re suffering through doesn’t a nice warm bowl of veg soup sound great?  Does to me – along with anything else that’ll keep me warm, like hot chocolate, chili, coffee – well, you get what I’m saying!  I know I shouldn’t really complain about the cold,  living in Florida now – this is certainly nothing like what I grew up with all my life in Buffalo (can we say lake effect snow people?) but I can’t help but feel just a wee bit cheated, since the reason why I moved here in the first place was to avoid real cold.  I’m used to fake cold now, but this weather is taking me back to my roots!  Oh well, I’ll whip up a nice batch of this soup and daydream about the summertime!  Check out the recipe here:
